In the design process of planetary reducers, it is not only necessary to analyze whether the material performance is consistent with the current working conditions of the components, but also to analyze the material economy to ensure that the material is easy to manufacture. If the gear material is not suitable, it can cause premature wear of the parts and even render them unusable. So what technical requirements do planetary gear reducer gear materials need to meet?


1. Mechanical performance requirements of materials: The mechanical system performance of materials mainly includes indicators such as hardness and strength, reflecting the characteristics exhibited by the materials during use. When gears are in contact with each other during meshing, there are still different contact stresses, and there are significant differences at the root of the teeth that affect the maximum bending stress, which may lead to tooth surface failure. There may be contrast sliding and even severe wear at various points on the tooth surface. Therefore, gear materials should maintain high bending fatigue strength and contact fatigue strength, the tooth surface should have sufficient hardness and wear resistance, and the core should have certain strength and toughness.
2. The processing technology requirements of materials: The processing performance of materials refers to the ability of the materials themselves to better adapt to additional economic requirements, that is, the lowest cost, and thus achieve maximum benefits. The manufacturing of gears requires forging, cutting, and heat treatment, so the selection of materials should pay attention to their process performance.
